Tennis athlete Sabine Lisicki is assuming control of the RTL series
Sabine Lisicki, the 35-year-old tennis star from Troisdorf, is set to make her acting debut in the long-running German soap opera, "All That Counts." The series, which has been a staple on RTL's primetime schedule since 2006 and is produced in Cologne, has now introduced tennis as a new discipline this summer.
Lisicki, who reached the Wimbledon final in 2013, indicating her success on grass courts, will be playing herself in the series. Although her acting experience is limited, having only appeared in a school musical, Lisicki expressed delight about her role, citing her long-standing fandom of the series.
The soap opera revolves around events at a sports and wellness center, making it a perfect fit for Lisicki's athletic background. Lisicki herself played the role of Sabine Lisicki in the RTL series "Alles was zählt" in 2025, appearing in episodes 4846 to 4848 between December 15 and 17.
Lisicki, despite being a busy professional athlete in the past, used to watch series to unwind. However, as a mom, she hardly watches anything due to lack of time. Despite this, she expressed hope that the inclusion of tennis in "All That Counts" might inspire more people, especially kids, to take up tennis.
Lisicki mentioned she was a bit nervous before the shoot and had some memory issues due to 'Mom Brain,' a term referring to concentration difficulties among young mothers. Despite these challenges, she managed to deliver a compelling performance.
Lisicki's guest appearance in "All That Counts" will air in episodes 4846 to 4848 between December 15 and 17, 2025 on RTL (one week earlier on RTL+). In addition to her acting debut, Lisicki is also giving a tennis workshop for female tennis prodigies in Essen.
Lisicki remembers the first advertisement of "All That Counts" and finds it remarkable that the series has been running since 2006. Figure skating and other sports have been focuses in the series in the past, and with Lisicki's addition, tennis joins this list of sports featured in the popular soap opera.
