My Chemical Romance's Return to Malaysia Breaks Records

My Chemical Romance (MCR) is set to make a triumphant return to Malaysia, with their Live in Malaysia concert scheduled for April 30 and May 1, 2023, at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium. The concert tour will also stop in Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, and Indonesia.

The second day of the concert, on May 1, 2023, has sold out quickly due to overwhelming demand, leading to the addition of the second show after the first day’s tickets sold out rapidly. Across both nights, a total of 120,000 tickets were sold, breaking records for the venue, indicating very strong and sustained fan interest for both days.

The first day of the concert was initially announced and quickly sold out, prompting the organizers to add the second day. Tickets for the second day went on sale shortly after the first show sold out, and that too sold out quickly, demonstrating high demand and excitement for the band’s performance in Malaysia. Both shows were eventually officially sold out, showing no notable difference in the rapidity and volume of ticket sales between the two days, with the addition of the second show allowing many more fans to attend.

The ticket purchasing process for the second day was reportedly smoother compared to the chaotic first-day sale in early July. Users on X (previously known as Twitter) complimented the organizer, Hello Universe, and the ticketing platform for their seamless ticket purchasing experience. User kobrakiddo even shared that they were able to secure their ideal concert section without burning their wallets.

However, some tickets originally priced at RM499 were seen listed for resale at over RM900, leading to calls for anti-scalping laws. User jenhyuflmz, on the other hand, tweeted that the ticket purchasing process was the most normal they had experienced and took only three minutes.

In a heartfelt tweet, Hello Universe thanked Malaysia for their support and indicated that more MCR shows may take place in 2026. The MCR concert in Malaysia is expected to be the band's biggest concert in the region.

It's worth noting that Malaysia is the only country in South-east Asia with additional MCR shows scheduled. MCR last performed in Malaysia in 2007, making this comeback a highly anticipated event for fans in the region.
