Young Golfer Mirabel Ting Ern Hui Wins First Professional Title at Home
In a heartwarming victory, 19-year-old Mirabel Ting Ern Hui from Miri, Sarawak, claimed her first professional golf title at the PGM Royal Pahang Championship held at the Pahang Royal Golf Club.
Mirabel, who made her professional debut earlier this month at the Amundi Evian Championship in France, missed the cut but bounced back impressively on home soil. She was the only player in the women's field to shoot under par in all three rounds, finishing the 54-hole tournament with a three-day total of 14-under-par 202.
Mirabel opened the tournament with a commanding lead, shooting a 67 in the first round, followed by a 65 in the second and a closing 70 in the third. This impressive performance saw her maintain a commanding lead throughout the tournament.
Veteran pro Aretha Pan finished runner-up with a five-under 211 (68-69-74), while another Sarawakian golfer, Zulaikah Nasser, claimed third place at even-par 216 (73-72-71).
Mirabel's win means a lot to her, as she paid a heartfelt tribute to her late grandfather, Ng Siaw Pheng, who introduced her to golf. Ng always hoped Mirabel would turn professional and compete at the highest level. Mirabel felt supported by her late grandfather whenever she and her brother returned to Miri.
This is Mirabel's second career win, her first being at the Fortuner Cup in June 2023, while she was still an amateur. As of my latest information cutoff in June 2024, there are no widely documented records or notable professional golf career achievements specifically attributed to Mirabel Ting Ern Hui. It is possible that she may be an emerging player or someone involved in golf at an amateur or regional level, but no significant milestones, professional titles, or major tournament performances have been officially recorded in mainstream golf databases or media sources.
Mirabel was thrilled to be playing at home during her win at the PGM Royal Pahang Championship and earned RM10,000 in prize money for her victory. She played alongside her brother during the tournament, making it a memorable experience for both of them.
As Mirabel continues her professional golf career, we look forward to seeing her grow and achieve even more milestones in the sport she loves.
The news of Mirabel Ting Ern Hui's first professional golf title victory at the PGM Royal Pahang Championship trended worldwide, sparking immense interest in the sports community, especially in the golfing sector. With this win, Mirabel has made a notable entry into the competitive world of professional sports, mirroring her late grandfather's hopes and dreams for her when he first introduced her to golf.
