Tenant in Kolym faces consequences for severely overgrazing 700 hectares of farmland
In the Olsky District of Magadan Oblast, an unscheduled inspection by an inspector from the Department of Land Control in July uncovered significant violations related to the misuse of agricultural land. The tenant of a land plot, Mr. Komar S.S., was found responsible for allowing over 697 hectares of designated haymaking land to become overgrown with weeds.
The investigation revealed that Mr. Komar S.S. neglected mandatory measures for preventing wind and water erosion, as well as other negative impacts on the environment that could degrade the quality of the land. Furthermore, no signs of agricultural activity or use of the land for agricultural purposes were observed.
The violations contravened the requirements of the Russian Federation's Land Code, and Mr. Komar S.S. was found guilty under part 2 of article 8.7 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. As a penalty, he was given a warning.
On August 5, the head of the farm was administratively punished by the Primorsky Interregional Department of Rosselkhoznadzor for not using the agricultural land in Magadan Oblast according to its intended purpose. Mr. Komar S.S. was ordered to take measures to bring the agricultural land into compliance with the requirements of the legislation.
Failing to use agricultural land according to its designated purpose can lead to administrative or even criminal penalties, including fines, cancellation of land rights, or compulsory land transfer to another user. However, without official or case-specific details for Magadan Oblast or the individual case mentioned, it is not possible to provide precise consequences or penalties relevant to Mr. Komar S.S.
The entire land plot was overgrown with various weeds, including couch grass, horsetail, sedge, willow, and birch. This case serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to established requirements for improving, protecting, and preserving agricultural land in Russia.
- The incident in the Olsky District highlights the significance of environmental-science principles in managing agricultural land, as the neglect of mandatory measures to prevent soil erosion and the overgrowth of weeds can have detrimental effects on the land's quality.
- The apparent misuse of agricultural land as general-news, such as the case of Mr. Komar S.S., underscores the role of politics in regulating land usage, with violations potentially leading to administrative punishments or even legal consequences.
