From Playtime to Pro
The Wolffram family's dachshund racing adventure began as a random whim: They saw a video and thought it looked like a blast, so they decided to give it a shot. After the first race, it was clear that Tony wasn't just playing around - he loved it, and he had a natural talent for it!
Now, the races have become a beloved family tradition, and Tony's got 27 rivals to conquer in the first round, nine in the second, with two to three dachshunds per heat. The fastest one from each round moves on to the next, followed by the semifinals and finals. With three victories under his belt, Tony's beating other dogs left and right!
Daniel wonders if Tony's love for playing with bigger dogs as a pup could have sparked his current drive and speed.
The Ball: His Secret Weapon
Tony doesn't have any specific training routine, but he sure does love his playtime! Daniel explains that they go on lots of walks, and Tony's got a special fondness for playing with his ball, which keeps him fit. His highest motivation during the race is to get back to his owner or his ball as fast as possible. And guess what? That strategy works like a charm!
Besides being a champion racer, Tony earned treats, accessories, gift cards, and a badge that he wears with pride! He even stole the show at the neighboring Ludwigsburg Horse Market, drawing in admirers and fans who wanted to know more about this amazing little racer. Tony's usually not so fond of strangers, but he seems to love the attention!
Is He the Best in Bavaria?
Later this October, Tony will make his debut in the Munich Dachshund race. Daniel's excited to see how he fares in the competition. They've found success reassuring in the face of those who've offered unsolicited advice or judged their unconventional pet.
