Ten defeats and a formidable adversary proved overwhelming
In a thrilling encounter at the Stadion am Zoo last night, SV Rödinghausen faced off against SV Bergisch Gladbach in the Niederrheinliga. The match, which kicked off at 19:30, saw the home team struggle to keep up with their opponents.
The guests created the first chances in the game, and it was not until the 35th minute that the deadlock was broken. Former WSVer Tim Corsten, fielded by SVR, scored a goal from 16 meters into the far corner, giving SVR the lead - 0:1.
Rödinghausen responded strongly, with a flurry of attacks in the first half. They managed to secure six corners by the 30th minute, but were unable to convert any of these opportunities into goals.
The second half saw a series of goals for SVR. In the 52nd minute, Eduard Probst scored the second goal for Rödinghausen, leaving the home team trailing 0:2. Just five minutes later, there was a misunderstanding between Luyambula and Hans-Juraj Hartmann, leading to Abdul Fesenmeyer scoring the 0:3.
Coach Tyrala was sent off for allegedly holding the ball too long in the 53rd minute, which seemed to demoralize the home team further. Fesenmeyer scored again in the 87th minute, making it 0:5 for SVR.
Vincent Schaub had an unlucky header hitting the bar in the 83rd minute, but it was too little too late for Rödinghausen. Maximilian Scharf, an U19 player, replaced Miyamoto in the 85th minute, but the youngster was unable to spark a comeback.
Marius Luca Bauer scored into the far corner in the 77th minute, making it 0:4 for SVR. The final whistle blew, marking a disappointing night for Rödinghausen, who will now face Bezirksligist TSV Krefeld-Bockum in the first round of the Niederrheinpokal on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Bergisch side will play at Borussia Dortmund U23 the following Sunday (17th August) at 14:00. The team will be looking to build on this impressive victory and continue their strong start to the season.
