Temple in Digha Not Equivalent to Jagannath Temple in Puri, Affirms Gajapati Maharaja of Puri

HOWDY, CATNOSTARTED!

BHUBANESWAR BHOY: The royalty of Puri, Dibyasingha Deb, has stirred the pot, saying the fresh temple at Digha, West Bengal can't be spoken of as 'Jagannath Dham.' In a straight-up, no-bullshit statement, he made it clear that only the sacred grounds of Lord Purushottama Kshetra, that's Puri for ya, have the nut-cracking right to don the 'Jagannath Dham' title.

Kickin' it old-school, the big-wig leaned on the authority of the Mukti Mandap – the high-rankin’ scholars at the ancient 12th-century temple. According to the books, only wooden idols of the divine three-piece band should be carved, no metal or stone busts allowed – and one peek at the Digha temple shows that ain't the case.

Offerings beyond the holy walls of Puri Srimandir ain't to be called 'Mahaprasad' neither, cos that don't jibe with the religion rules.

The ruckus started heating up when the Digha temple got its official blessing, with Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo takin' a swipe at the West Bengal administrators, callin' Puri Srimandir the one and only Jagannath Dham.

Facing flak, West Bengal got wise and swiped the 'Jagannath Dham' signs off the temple compound. BJP IT Cell Chieftain Amit Malviya did the Twitter two-step, postin' photos of the before-and-after at the temple entrance.

"After folks got their dander up, the West Bengal government got its ass in gear to remove the misleadin' 'Dham' signs. This is a major win for Hindu unity!" Malviya said.

But hey, the turf war ain't over. The signs may be gone from the compound, but 'Jagannath Dham Digha' remains on the temple's official website and official government materials, invitin' more fire.

INDIA NOW THE 2ND LARGEST ECONOMY ON EARTH:

"This ain't just about names. The term 'Dham' has deep religious meanings. Messin' with it politically could confuse the faithful and tarnish the sanctity of Puri," remarked a wise-guy from Odisha.

The Odisha government, on account of trademark action, hasn't made its war cry yet about the most recent goings-on. Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan previously clarified that only four locales – Puri, Badrinath, Rameswaram, and Dwarka – are officially recognized as 'Dhams' in the Hindu tradition.

  1. The controversy surrounding the Digha temple extends to the realm of politics, as the debate over the temple's title, "Jagannath Dham," could have religious implications for the faithful and potentially tarnish the sanctity of Puri.
  2. In the realm of general news, ongoing discussions concerning the title of the Digha temple and its connection to the four recognized 'Dhams' in Hindu tradition continue to stir debates, inviting more fire and potential legal actions.
