Television series The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is taking a break from new episodes between August 11 and August 15.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is taking a break this week, as the popular late-night talk show takes its annual summer hiatus from August 11-15. This break is part of a usual practice for late-night shows during the summer months and coincides with recent news about the show's future.
Despite rumours of cancellation, CBS and Paramount have confirmed that the break is not related to the show's cancellation. The Late Show is set to return with new episodes on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
During the break, reruns of The Late Show will air on CBS at 11:35 pm ET/PT every night from August 11-15. On August 11, viewers can catch a rerun featuring George Clooney, Alan Ritchson, originally airing on February 18, 2025. On August 12, the rerun features David Oyelowo, Finn Wolfhard, OK Go, a special appearance by Alan Cumming, and originally aired on April 15, 2025.
On August 13, viewers can tune in for a rerun with Senator Bernie Sanders and a performance by Pavement, originally airing on May 15, 2025. On August 14, The War and Treaty will perform, and John Oliver will make an appearance, originally airing on February 17, 2025. And on August 15, Bad Bunny and Leanne Morgan will make special appearances, with the episode originally airing on July 22, 2025.
While on break, Colbert has not pulled back his punches, including bits that feature a clip where former President Donald Trump acknowledges that Colbert is the top-rated late-night show on TV while trying to say he (and his fellow late-night hosts) are untalented. Colbert has also joked for Netflix to call him, as he'll be available in June.
The final episodes of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert are set to air in May 2026. There has been speculation that the cancellation could have been a decision to appease the Trump administration, as Paramount and Skydance looked to finalize a merger. However, the official reason for the cancellation was attributed to financial reasons.
For those who want to catch up on past episodes of The Late Show, they can stream them on demand on Paramount Plus, requiring a subscription. Fans of the show can rest assured that they will be able to tune in for new episodes starting on September 2.
