Max Kruse, a former German national football player, has taken on a new role at RTL as a football expert and TV pundit, primarily focusing on live broadcasts covering the 2. Bundesliga and the Europa League (Europapokal).

In his new position, Kruse will provide expert analysis and insights during these football broadcasts, bringing a fresh perspective and his deep understanding of the game to the TV microphone. This appointment is part of RTL's larger sports lineup for autumn 2025, which includes extensive football coverage, alongside other sports.

Frank Robens, RTL's sports chief, has praised Kruse as "opinionated, unconventional, authentic," and expects his addition to the expert team to provide good entertainment. Kruse himself has expressed his enthusiasm about the new role, promising to bring his experience, take clear and distinct positions, and provide fans with honest insights.

With over 300 Bundesliga games under his belt, having played for Werder Bremen and VfL Wolfsburg during his active football career, Kruse is no stranger to the world of professional football. However, this will be his first foray into the role of a football TV expert.

Kruse will also appear in RTL+'s Europa League show "Matchday." In addition to his football-related duties, Kruse has previously shown his entertainment potential in reality TV shows like "Promi Big Brother" and "Schlag den Star." Aside from his career in football and television, Kruse is also a professional poker player.

Max Kruse's addition to RTL's expert team provides reinforcement for Felix Kroos and Patrick Helmes. His role at RTL is effective from September.

With Kruse's appointment, RTL's sports coverage promises to offer a unique blend of expert analysis, entertainment, and unconventional perspectives, making it an exciting time for football fans tuning into RTL's broadcasts.

Kruse's expertise in football, combined with his unconventional perspectives, will surely enrich RTL's broadcasts, offering a mixture of sports comments and entertainment. As a well-rounded individual with experience in football, reality TV, and poker, Kruse will bring a plethora of engaging elements to the table during his analysis of games like the 2. Bundesliga, Europa League, and potentially sports beyond football.
