Television network Dyn Sport Mix goes live on satellite provider Astra, offering viewers free access to various sports programming.
In a recent announcement, German sports streaming provider Dyn Media revealed a significant expansion of its shareholder base, with retail company Schwarz Group and the German football association DFL (Deutsche Fußball Liga) joining as strategic investors. This investment aims to accelerate Dyn's domestic and international growth, develop new business areas, and enhance its media technology.
Last month, Dyn launched a new free-to-air channel named Dyn Sport Mix, which is now available in HD via Astra (19.2° East). This expansion is expected to significantly widen the reach of Dyn Sport Mix across Germany, reaching over 16 million TV households.
Dyn Sport Mix offers a variety of content, including live matches, highlight shows, and magazine formats from five core sports: handball, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, and hockey. The channel also features studio talk shows like Kretzsche & Schmiso, where former national handball star Stefan Kretzschmar and commentator Florian Schmidt-Sommerfeld analyze current developments in the sport.
From 2024, the video offering of tabloid newspaper BILD will focus on BILD's own digital platforms, as Axel Springer has announced the shutdown of linear TV channel BILD on December 31, 2023. This shift towards digital platforms aligns with Dyn's mission to make niche sports more visible to mass audiences.
Dyn Sport Mix can be followed for selected live fixtures and re-lived games, as well as for studio talk shows like Kretzsche & Schmiso. The sports streaming service is financed through advertising and is available free of charge via Astra on the frequency 12,109 MHz H (SR 27,500, FEC 3/4).
This expansion and the launch of Dyn Sport Mix are exciting developments in the world of sports streaming, providing German audiences with a new, free, and diverse platform to enjoy their favourite sports.
