Red Dwarf's Spacey Comeback: A Bloody Brilliant News!

Television Gold: Six Excellent Episodes Starring Lister, Rimmer, Kryten, Cat, and Holly, Ruling the Airwaves

Hear ye, hear ye! It's time to crack open a tinny and celebrate, mates! After bloody ages of absence, the bloke's favorite cosmic comedy, Red Dwarf, is bloody well making a comeback to our humble screens!

And let me tell ya, we couldn't be more chuffed if we'd hit the jackpot at the Dog and Duck!

Ever since the show's bloody debut in 1988, the lunatic adventures of the scantily-surviving crew of the Jupiter Mining Corporation's Red Dwarf spaceship have been the freakin' bee's knees for TV comedy buffs. Naturally, there have been a few comebacks, but news of a full-blown series is seriously game-changing!

Here's a bloody great look at 6 times Lister, Rimmer, Kryten, Cat, and Holly were the absolute ace of television.

Straighten Up, Mate!

Right then, what's it all about, then?

A colossal mining vessel bigger than Ben-Hur's chariot suffers a radiation leak, leavingthree million years later the last human crew member, Dave Lister—formerly a chicken soup vending machine dude—awakens from suspended animation.

Accompanied by the humanlike descendant of his long-dead pet cat, the Cat; the senile computer Holly; the android Kryten, arguably the most useless bloke since the Roman Empire; and the, well, bloody annoying hologram of Arnold J Rimmer, our motely group zips about the stars!

It's a bloody laugh riot of out-of-this-world character comedy!

Bloody Ripper!

Red Dwarf is just the bleeding Young Ones in bloody space!

The jokes revolve around the squalid living conditions, Lister's obsession with curry, Rimmer's devotion to etiquette, Cat's vanity, and Kryten's pathetic attempts at becoming ever more human.

In the endless vacuum of space where it's freezing cold and there's nary an atmosphere, trying to teach rubber-faced Kryten, most always played by Robert Llewellyn, to swear and fib offers endless bloody laughs.

But remember, he's a bloody dab hand at housekeeping.

Got Tongue?

Anything goes in Red Dwarf, mate!

If a human cat doesn't tickle your fancy (always played with bloody charm and pizzazz by Danny John Jules), then brace yourself when the lads find themselves in a parallel universe, and there's a song and dance number! Obviously!

The Vindaloovians, Bloody Lovely Lads!

One of the charms of Red Dwarf is its embrace of absurdism and low-tech, low-budget effects and antics.

And never was that more apparent than when Lister and Cat tried to take on the enemy by pretending to be the Vindaloovians. Talk about a bloody brilliant insult!

'The King of the Potato People won't let me'

Chris Barrie as the blooming irritating Rimmer is the constant butt of many a gag, and his holographic state provides a smorgasbord of possibilities.

Whether he's recruiting an army of historical figures or just malfunctioning, Rimmer never fails to deliver a good laugh.

'Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast!'

And such a bore has bloody well got to have an alter ego, and that's Ace Rimmer.

Only a bloody gaping-mouthed twit could say that Rimmer surfing a crocodile in mid-air to nab a parachute from a Nazi isn't one of the best Red Dwarf moments ever. What a guy!

What a bloody scream, eh?
