Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Fails to Secure Promised Ministerial Position Post Elections, According to MLA's Statement
Telangana Congress Faces Internal Strife Over Unfilled Ministerial Posts
A simmering controversy within the Telangana Congress party has come to the forefront, as MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy remains dissatisfied and publicly critical over not receiving a Cabinet berth despite promises from the Congress high command during elections and subsequent campaigns.
Rajagopal Reddy has reiterated his demand for an immediate Cabinet expansion to fill the three remaining vacant ministerial posts. In a public exchange with Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, he has highlighted the ongoing controversy and visible leadership tensions within the Telangana Congress.
Deputy Chief Minister Vikramarka's comments about the difficulty of accommodating Rajagopal Reddy in the cabinet have further fueled the controversy. Rajagopal, however, distanced himself from any family-based lobbying allegations and stressed his performance and commitment to the party and Telangana’s welfare.
Rajagopal’s brother, Venkat Reddy, stated he was unaware if Rajagopal was promised a Cabinet post and commented that the decision was beyond his control, highlighting internal differences even within the family linked to politics.
The delay in the Telangana Congress’ political affairs committee (PAC) meeting, crucial for decisions like Cabinet expansion, has further added to the uncertainty. The meeting has faced postponement, partly due to absences of key leaders like AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan.
In summary, the Cabinet expansion remains incomplete with three slots vacant, and tensions persist within the Congress party leadership due to unfulfilled promises and public dissent by Rajagopal Reddy, while party mechanisms to resolve these issues, such as the PAC meeting, have faced delays.
