Upon her distressing demise, authorities launched a manhunt, working tirelessly to track down the assailant. Initial motives behind the heinous act remained unclear, but further investigation led to the discovery of 22-year-old suspect, Umar Hayat. Hayat was found loitering outside Yousaf's home for several hours prior to the shooting[3][4].
"This was a callous and premeditated murder," said Islamabad police chief Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi during a press conference. "The investigations reveal the attacker had been persistently trying to contact Sana, meeting with multiple rejections before resorting to this tragic act."
