Rear-End Collision During Illegal Street Racing - Teen drivers lose licences after illegal street race ends in crash

Two 19-year-olds took part in an illegal street race in Gelsenkirchen-Erle on Saturday evening. The reckless driving ended when one of the cars crashed into an unrelated vehicle. No one was injured in the incident.

The race began with both drivers repeatedly overtaking other cars and speeding through the area. Their aggressive manoeuvres drew attention before the collision occurred.

Police arrived quickly and seized both vehicles involved in the race. The drivers stayed at the scene but had their licences taken away immediately.

Over the past year, North Rhine-Westphalia has recorded around 150 illegal street races. Most cases happened in cities like Cologne, Düsseldorf, and the Ruhr region.

The incident adds to a growing number of dangerous races in urban areas. Authorities continue to crack down on illegal street racing, confiscating vehicles and licences when offences occur.
