TEDxABQ resumes this month following a break of three years

After a three-year hiatus, TEDx is set to return to Albuquerque on September 27. This time, the event will take a different format, moving from the traditional TED style to a theater-in-the-round setup.

The event will feature twelve speakers, including Gail Rubin, a death and grief educator, who will be giving her second TEDxABQ talk at the event this month. Gail's talk will focus on medically-assisted death, a topic that is legal in New Mexico. Interestingly, Gail plans to wear pink metallic boots with skulls embroidered on them for her presentation.

Another speaker at the event will be plus-size influencer Jen McLellan, who will present on weight bias in health care. Additionally, a 10-year-old named Eulises Crespo will give a talk on curiosity and activism.

The speakers were chosen from over 200 applicants, reflecting the diversity and depth of thought that TEDxABQ aims to represent. The organizers, Alex Andrego Adams and Meghan Pickard, sought to revive the event for a new, modern audience.

Intriguingly, Gail Rubin considers items with a skull or a skeleton on them as business expenses. This unique perspective is a testament to the innovative and thought-provoking content that TEDxABQ events are known for.

Unfortunately, there are no search results providing information on the ten other speakers appearing at TEDxABQ in September 2023. However, with the diverse and interesting lineup announced so far, the event promises to be an engaging and enlightening experience.

TEDxABQ was one of the first 30 cities globally to be licensed for TEDx events, around 15 years ago. The return of TEDxABQ to Albuquerque is a testament to the enduring appeal and impact of these thought-provoking events.

The event in September 2022, which was held to resurrect the series, did not take off as the organizers had hoped. However, with the renewed focus and energy, TEDxABQ is poised to make a strong comeback this September.
