Pakistan, on the other hand, has been embroiled in a controversy regarding match referee Andy Pycroft, with reports of a potential boycott if he remains in the tournament. Pakistan's team for the match includes Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Salman Ali Agha (captain), Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Haris (wicket-keeper), Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi, Sufiyan Muqeem, Abrar Ahmed.

The UAE team, meanwhile, consists of Alishan Sharafu, Muhammad Waseem (captain), Muhammad Zohaib, Asif Khan, Harshit Kaushik, Rahul Chopra (wicket-keeper), Dhruv Parashar, Haider Ali, Muhammad Rohid Khan, Muhammad Jawadullah, Junaid Siddique.

UAE played a tri-series against Pakistan recently in Sharjah, providing some insight into the potential match-up. In their previous game, UAE displayed impressive cricket against Oman, setting the stage for an exciting encounter against Pakistan.

Elsewhere in the tournament, Bangladesh managed to beat Afghanistan, keeping their hopes alive in the Asia Cup.
