TuS Drevenack Reserve Team Aims High in Kreisliga C

In a surprising move, TuS Drevenack's reserve team will compete in the Kreisliga C this season, following the withdrawal of the first team from the Kreisliga B. The decision was made to avoid the risk of relegation, as the team struggled in the B-Liga.

The young reserve team, predominantly comprised of 18 and 19-year-old players who have taken a year or two off from football, will be led by Michael Fergon. Fergon, who previously served as co-trainer for the first team, has now taken the helm as head coach.

Fergon's ambition for the team is clear: they aim to finish between fifth and eighth place in the Kreisliga C. However, the coach admits that the current team lacks the quality to compete in the Kreisliga B.

Despite the challenges, the team is determined to make a mark in the Kreisliga C. They won't be hiding, but rather striving to keep the club alive in the long run.

The other teams in group 2 of the Kreisliga B can celebrate their league stay before the start of the season, as no team will be relegated. SV Ringenberg and the Hünxer district club have already been eliminated.

The reserve team's squad has undergone a significant overhaul, with nine players leaving the club since the start of the transfer period. Unfortunately, regular player Jan Lenz suffered a fibula fracture during a test match, adding to the team's challenges.

Despite the lack of information about TuS Drevenack's long-term plan after the relegation, it's common for such decisions to be part of a club's strategy to rebuild, focus on developing younger players, and stabilise the club before aiming for promotion again.

Michael Fergon, with his coaching experience in the MSV Duisburg youth academy, will play a crucial role in shaping the future of TuS Drevenack's reserve team. The team may not have the advantage of experienced players, but their youth and determination could be their driving force.

With a bit of luck, the team could aspire to finish as high as third in the Kreisliga C, making a strong comeback from their recent struggles. Regardless of the outcome, the team's spirit remains high, and they are ready to start afresh under Fergon's leadership.
