Union Berlin have faced two consecutive defeats in their training camp in Herzogenaurach, Germany, with losses to third-division side 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 and second-division team SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

The team's coach, Steffen Baumgart, is demanding more clarity and focus from his players, as the performances have shown inconsistency, lack of freshness, and insufficient effectiveness in finishing chances.

In the game against Schweinfurt, Union Berlin struggled to create any flow, resulting in a 0-1 defeat. The team's first half showed promise, but many substitutions in the second half disrupted the team's fluidity and control, leading to the opponents gaining more influence.

Baumgart emphasized the need for the squad to enhance their clarity and consistency, as the team missed scoring opportunities and was vulnerable defensively, conceding goals due to defensive lapses.

The team's struggles may be attributed to the training camp, according to Baumgart. He believes that the team did well in the first half but struggled to regain pressure in the second half due to changes made.

Oliver Burke, David Preu, Aljoscha Kemlein, and Woo-Yeong Jeong could gain more playing time in the upcoming match against Espanyol Barcelona, with Burke missing the three test matches before Schweinfurt due to illness.

Baumgart wants to bring more freshness and clarity into the next two test matches, including the penultimate test match against Espanyol Barcelona on Saturday at 3:15 PM at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei.

Despite the recent defeats, Baumgart remains optimistic about improvements in the remaining days of the training camp. He sees these friendly losses as lessons to address tactical and mental sharpness issues before the DFB-Pokal and Bundesliga matches begin.

David Preu was out for two matches after his concussion in the test against Linzer ASK (2:0), while Aljoscha Kemlein has been out since late January due to a metatarsal fracture. Woo-Yeong Jeong has not been available since his ankle injury on March 30 against SC Freiburg (2:1).
