Team GB's Largest Ever Youth Olympic Squad Set for 2025 EYOF
The British Olympic Association (BOA) has unveiled an impressive squad of 54 young athletes set to represent Team GB at the 2025 European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Skopje, North Macedonia. This is the largest youth Olympic squad Britain has ever sent to the event, showcasing the depth of talent in our sporting landscape.
The athletes will compete across 10 sports, including gymnastics, swimming, judo, cycling, basketball 3×3, and canoe slalom. They will gain valuable experience in a multi-sport environment, serving as a stepping stone for future Olympic dreams. Rachel Smith, a 2012 Olympian, has been appointed as Team GB's Chef de Mission, providing guidance and support to the young squad.
Anna Hopkin, an Olympic gold medallist, will act as the official Athlete Ambassador. She will share her experiences and inspire the young athletes as they embark on their Olympic journey. The EYOF is seen as an ideal introduction to international competition, with events taking place in Skopje, Kumanovo, and Osijek, Croatia.
Among the excited athletes is Irene Oboavwoduo, a 17-year-old basketball player from Manchester. She expressed her pride in representing Team GB, while 15-year-old swimmer Kaiden Hitchins from Smethwick looks to follow in the footsteps of Olympic champion Duncan Scott.
