Team from Pakistan arrives in United Arab Emirates for Asia Cup and triple series tournament.

Pakistan has made significant changes to its T20 squad for the upcoming events, with a focus on integrating younger talent and managing player workload. The restructuring comes after recent setbacks and sees some senior players like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan being rested for the Asia Cup 2025 squad.

For the Tri-Nation series in the UAE, scheduled from August 29 to September 7, 2025, Salman Ali Agha has been appointed captain. The series, which also involves UAE and Afghanistan, serves as a preparatory platform before the Asia Cup.

The Asia Cup 2025, set to take place from September 9 to 28 in the UAE, features Pakistan in Group A alongside Oman, India, and UAE. The squad named for the Asia Cup includes 17 players, with notable senior players like Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, and Faheem Ashraf. Younger players such as Saim Ayub, Hasan Nawaz, and Mohammad Haris are also included.

Notably, Abbas Afridi and Salman Mirza, who have impressed in prior games and possess skills suited to UAE pitches, are being considered for opportunities in the tri-series and possibly the Asia Cup. This move aims to strengthen the lineup.

The Pakistan Cricket Board's decision to scrap the top A-category central contracts for the first time in 21 years is part of this strategic move to test emerging talent and manage player workload. Some senior players like Salman Agha, Fakhar Zaman, Abrar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi have been demoted to B-category contracts.

The Pakistan T20 squad, led by Salman Agha, has arrived in Dubai for the Tri-Nation series and Asia Cup. The squad consists of Salman Agha (captain), Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Sahibzada Farhan, Hasan Nawaz, Salman Mirza, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Nawaz, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hussain Talat, Sufiyan Muqeem, Abrar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Faheem Ashraf, and Mohammad Wasim.

The Asia Cup 2025 will mark Pakistan's first match against Oman on September 12 in Dubai, followed by a highly anticipated clash against India on September 14. The team will practice at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and train at the ICC Academy in preparation for these crucial matches.

The door remains open for the return of experienced players like Babar Azam for the next ICC Men's T20 World Cup, providing incentive for the younger players to perform well and secure their places in the squad.
