Calgary Flames Teams Prepare for the 2022-2023 Season

The Calgary Flames teams are getting ready for the upcoming 2022-2023 NHL season, with high expectations and a strong roster. The Flames teams are eager to secure a playoff spot and make an impact.

In the goalie department, Devin Cooley and Ivan Prosvetov are competing for the backup position, as the Flames teams have decided not to run a tandem to start the season. Dustin Wolf's seven-year, $52.5-million extension has solidified his position as the starting goaltender.

On the offensive side, Matt Coronato, who scored 24 goals last season, has been placed on the top line forward line alongside Nazem Kadri and Jonathan Huberdeau. Kadri is optimistic about the meaningful games the Flames teams played last season and the opportunities for players to solidify their positions in the NHL.

The Flames teams have secured several young talents through multi-year contracts, including forwards Matt Coronato and Connor Zary, defenseman Kevin Bahl, and goaltender Dustin Wolf, all under the age of 25.

Zayne Parekh, Calgary's first-round pick in the 2024 NHL draft, is eager to make his mark despite missing rookie camp due to a lower-body injury. Parekh is aiming to play in the pre-season game against the Edmonton Oilers and is feeling the pressure and nerves about his performance, as noted by Flames' head coach Ryan Huska.

The Flames teams finished the 2021-2022 regular season with a record of 41-27-14, the highest by a team that didn't make the playoffs. They were in contention for the playoffs until the second-last game of the season.

The Flames teams' home-opener is scheduled for Oct. 11 against the St. Louis Blues. They will open the regular season with back-to-back road games against the Edmonton Oilers on Oct. 8 and Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 9.

No new information was provided about the performance or contracts of MacKenzie Weegar, Kevin Bahl, or Connor Zary. Similarly, no updates were given regarding the status of Nazem Kadri or Jonathan Huberdeau's contracts, or the lower-body injury of 19-year-old defenseman Zayne Parekh.

As the Flames teams gear up for the new season, fans are excited to see how the young talents will perform and whether the team can secure a playoff spot. The 2022-2023 season promises to be an exciting one for the Calgary Flames teams.
