In a dramatic shift in the media landscape, celebrities, including Taylor Swift, are turning away from traditional outlets like late-night TV and towards podcasts. This trend is evident in Swift's recent appearance on the New Heights podcast, which has left the 2020 appearance of former President Donald Trump on The Joe Rogan Experience in the dust.

The first hour of Swift's New Heights episode drew up to 1.3 million viewers, nearly doubling the 800,000 viewers who tuned in to watch Trump's debut on The Joe Rogan Experience last October. The numbers continue to climb, and views of Swift's appearance could make it one of the most-watched podcasts ever.

Swift's New Heights episode had already passed 11 million views just 19 hours after it dropped. In comparison, Trump's appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience currently sits at 59 million views, still far behind Swift's impressive numbers.

Amazon has also jumped on the podcast bandwagon, restructuring its audio business with the goal of boosting sponsorships of creator-led shows like New Heights. The shift towards podcasts is not only benefiting celebrities but also the platforms that host them.

However, it's worth noting that the Joe Rogan Experience episode with Lazar and Corbell remains among the most-watched podcast episodes ever, with 61 million YouTube views[1]. Despite Swift's impressive numbers, there is no evidence or data showing that her appearances on New Heights have achieved a similar level of viewership or widespread acclaim in terms of episode rankings or listener counts.

Trump has been a vocal critic of Swift, taking jabs at her on Truth Social, even after her endorsement of Kamala Harris for president last year. The new record could add fuel to the one-sided beef between Swift and Trump.

In February, Trump once again referenced Swift, this time in relation to the Super Bowl where she was reportedly booed. Swift, however, has remained silent on the matter.

Recently, Swift's fans crashed YouTube's stream of the New Heights episode about an hour and 44 minutes in, demonstrating the power and passion of her fanbase.

The shift towards podcasts continues, with celebrities like Swift finding new ways to connect with their audiences in this evolving media landscape. Whether this trend will continue remains to be seen, but for now, it's clear that podcasts are here to stay.

Technology's influence on the future of entertainment is undeniable, as shown by the increasing popularity of podcasts. Swift's recent episode on New Heights has surpassed Trump's appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience in terms of views, indicating a potential shift in celebrity engagement towards podcasts. This trend is not limited to celebrities, as even tech giants like Amazon are investing in the radio industry to sponsor creator-led shows such as New Heights. Despite Swift's impressive numbers, her podcast's episode rankings and listener counts have yet to rival those of some other popular podcast episodes. Regardless, it seems that podcasts have become an integral part of pop-culture, revolutionizing the way celebrities and fans interact.
