The image shows Elizabeth Taylor sitting on a chair with a microphone in front of her. She is wearing a white dress with a black belt and her hair is styled in a classic 1950s look. Her eyes are closed and her lips are slightly parted, giving her a peaceful and serene expression. The background is blurred, giving the image a dreamy, ethereal feel.

Taylor Swift's Opalite video dazzles with '80s nostalgia—but only for subscribers

Taylor Swift has released a new music video for Opalite, a track from her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl. The video is currently available only to paid subscribers on Spotify Premium and Apple Music. Fans without subscriptions can watch it on YouTube from Sunday.

The video is a bright, glittery tribute to 1980s American pop culture. It opens with a fake retro TV advert for a cleaning product called Opalite, starring Cillian Murphy as the campaign's face. The storyline follows Swift and her love interest, played by Domhnall Gleeson, with Lewis Capaldi appearing as a photographer documenting their romance. Jodie Turner-Smith and Greta Lee also feature in supporting roles.

The exclusive release on paid platforms matches Billboard's recent shift toward prioritising streaming data from subscription services. This strategy may influence how fans access Swift's future content.

The Opalite video will become free to view on YouTube this weekend. Until then, it remains behind a paywall on Spotify and Apple Music. The song is part of Swift's The Life of a Showgirl album, set for release in October 2025.
