Taylor Swift reveals upcoming 12th album titled 'The Life of a Showgirl', provides anticipated release date.
Pop sensation Taylor Swift has announced her 12th studio album, "The Life of a Showgirl." The long-awaited release is set to hit shelves on October 3, marking Swift's first album since the re-recording of her first six albums.
The album will be produced by Max Martin, Shellback, and Taylor Swift herself, with no involvement from Jack Antonoff. This marks a notable change, as Antonoff had been a major producer on her previous five albums and a contributor to two more.
The album reunites Swift with Max Martin and Shellback, known for delivering infectious pop music. Visual photography for the album was done by Mert and Marcus.
"The Life of a Showgirl" features a guest appearance by Sabrina Carpenter on track 12. Sabrina Carpenter will feature on the final track of the album, titled "The Life of a Showgirl."
Taylor Swift's episode of the "New Heights" podcast premiered at 7 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday. Swift is set to appear on the podcast, and a teaser video for her appearance shows her pulling the album from a briefcase. The podcast episode can be streamed in full on YouTube.
In addition to the standard CD and digital releases, a special limited vinyl edition of the album will be released in "Portofino orange glitter." A special cassette edition of the album is also available for preorder.
Swift's last re-recording, "1989 (Taylor's Version)," arrived in October 2023. All four re-recorded albums have been massive commercial and cultural successes, each debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
This latest album comes after Taylor Swift purchased her catalog of recordings from Shamrock Capital in May. "The Life of a Showgirl" follows last year's "The Tortured Poets Department."
Swift's album artwork features Taylor Swift submerged in water, continuing her color scheme of orange and mint green. The album is Taylor Swift's first release since she regained control over her entire body of work.
Fans of Taylor Swift can preorder "The Life of a Showgirl" now, and the album will be available on all major streaming platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Audible, Spotify, and Wondery. Don't miss out on this highly anticipated release!
