Taylor Swift reveals plans for her 12th album, titled 'The Life of a Showgirl'

In an exciting turn of events, pop sensation Taylor Swift has announced her 12th studio album, titled "The Life of a Showgirl". The announcement was made on August 12, 2025, during an appearance on Travis Kelce's podcast "New Heights".

The album, scheduled for release on October 3, 2025, was conceived and recorded during the European leg of her Eras Tour in 2024. This thematic focus on life as a touring showgirl is reflected in the album's content.

Pre-orders for "The Life of a Showgirl" are currently available, and the album will be available in various formats, including vinyl editions that will ship before October 13. The cover art features an image symbolizing "the end of my day", with Swift depicted in a bathtub, highlighting behind-the-scenes moments of her life.

The release date notably falls just before Travis Kelce's birthday on October 5, which might hold symbolic significance.

Swift has been teasing the album through a countdown and color-coded boxes on her website, creating anticipation among fans. So far, she has released multiple variants of the album, each adding to the excitement.

Regarding touring plans for the album, Swift has not yet announced a dedicated tour for "The Life of a Showgirl". However, given her history of touring for most albums and the album’s thematic focus, it is expected she will likely do something special, although the exact form and timing remain unconfirmed.

"The Life of a Showgirl" follows "The Tortured Poets Department", which was released during her Eras Tour. The latter was reviewed as "rather good", with a mix of vivid lyrics and synthy pop production similar to 'Midnights'.

It is worth noting that Swift regained control over her entire body of work in May, purchasing her catalog from Shamrock Capital. This makes "The Life of a Showgirl" her first release since regaining control of her music.

Swift's partner Travis Kelce's podcast, "New Heights", posted an orange image on social media with a mysterious silhouette, hinting at the upcoming album. Taylor Nation, an official branch of Swift's marketing team, posted a TikTok slide show of 12 images, each featuring Swift wearing orange. A teaser video posted shows Swift pulling the album from a briefcase.
