Taxi ride ends unexpectedly in Baden-Baden, with local driver transporting pop star Clueso to a private casino concert
In the picturesque town of Baden-Baden, a memorable encounter took place during the 30th edition of the New Pop Festival. Taxi driver Eric Link, known for his diverse music taste ranging from Depeche Mode to Queen, found himself in the midst of stardom after meeting pop star Clueso.
Their first encounter was spontaneous, happening at a pharmacy in Baden-Baden. Since then, Eric Link has been driving Clueso, who is staying in a luxury hotel in the town, in his Toyota RAV4. The name of the hotel remains undisclosed.
Clueso, a fan of Eric Link's song "Winner," was unable to obtain concert tickets but was fortunate enough to listen to his music live in an intimate setting - in his hometown of Baden-Baden. The two gentlemen got along well, as was evident during their brief appearance. A photograph of them together was taken in the Florentinersaal of the casino.
The New Pop Festival, which runs from September 18th to 21st, has seen most of its paid concerts sell out. In addition to the live concerts, there will be free live acts on the Open-Air stage in the Kurgarten using the concert shell. Live-streamed music events from the Kurhaus, the Theater, and the Festspielhaus will also be shown on large screens in the Kurgarten and on the Fieserbrücke.
Clueso described his first encounter with Eric Link as grinning, and the taxi driver, who had previously driven prominent passengers such as Thomas Gottschalk or Frank Elstner, is now famous after being introduced by the pop star at his exclusive concert in the casino.
Music is not taboo in Eric Link's taxi, and a future play of Clueso's song will serve as a reminder of their special encounter. The bar at the hotel where Clueso is staying is also open very late, according to hints dropped by the pop star.
As the New Pop Festival continues, Eric Link and Clueso's story serves as a testament to the magic that can happen when music and chance intersect.
