In a bold career move, the vivacious and multitalented Rosalie Thomass has announced her arrival as the new Commissioner in the ARD's criminal drama series "Tatort" set in Franconia, with a infectious exuberance that's reminiscent of her on-screen characters: "This ensemble is bloody incredible, and I can't bloody wait to join them!" she declares, even tossing in a few local colloquialisms for good measure.
Thomass takes on the mantle from her esteemed acting comrade, Dagmar Manzel, who bid adieu to her role as Commissioner Paula Ringelhahn in a critically lauded episode late last year. Manzel, who's Exchange for a Life on the Stage, intends to focus more on theater in the future. With Thomass, Manzel passes the baton to a truly worthy successor, boasting a diverse range of acting skills.
Thomass made her breakthrough in 2005 in the BR police drama "110" - "He Should Die", directed by cinematic icon Dominik Graf. She garnered numerous accolades for her impeccable performance. Her triumph in the Bavarian Film Awards and a nomination for the German Film Awards for her part in Doris Dörrie's "Greetings from Fukushima" stands testament to her immense talent. Her spellbinding performance in Hans Steinbichler's "An Unheard Woman" led her to bag the German Acting Award and the Grimme Award. In the film adaptations of the "Kangaroo Chronicles", she showcased her comedic flair, essential to her character in the Franconia "Tatort".
A Time of Transition for "Tatort"
The ARD "Tatort" realm is currently undergoing a massive upheaval. This is the first time so many pivotal investigator roles, considered the crème de la crème of German television, have become vacant simultaneously. In Munich, Miro Nemec and Udo Wachtveitl, who've hunted down criminals as Batic and Leitmayr since 1991 across 98 episodes, are passing the torch to their acting peers Carlo Ljubek and Ferdinand Hofer, the latter having previously appeared as an assistant. In Frankfurt, Melika Foroutan and Edin Hasanovic are currently filming their debut episodes. The Borowski vacancy in Kiel was filled by Karoline Schuch, following a dramatic exit by Axel Milberg. The investigator positions in Vienna are yet to be filled.
Rosalie Thomass is thrilled about the opportunity to co-create her character, Chief Commissioner Emilia Rathgeber. Responsible editor at BR, Claudia Luzius, aptly labels her her "partner in crime". However, the wait for Thomass' debut episode may be longer as Fabian Hinrichs will appear as Felix Voss in the eleventh episode "I See You". Thomass' first appearance is scheduled for filming in the summer.

I'm not going to be able to wait for Rosalie Thomass' debut on the ARD's "Tatort" in Franconia, as I'm a huge fan of movies-and-tv and entertainment. Despite Dagmar Manzel's departure, I'm confident that Thomass, with her diverse range of acting skills, will make a great successor and co-create a compelling character.
