Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Houston Texans Betting Shifts and Injury Updates

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Houston Texans are set to square off on September 15th at 7:00 pm ET. Both teams are coming off their opening games, with the Bucs securing a 1-0 record and the Texans starting the season with a loss.

The Texans' backup center, Jarrett Patterson, has had a mediocre performance as per Pro Football Focus (PFF) grading, posting a 60.4 average in the last two seasons. Last week, in relief of Jake Andrews, Patterson earned a 59.1 grade. Andrews, in turn, played 45 of 63 snaps for the Texans last week, with Patterson handling the remaining 18.

The Texans face a challenge due to the injuries of Christian Kirk and Braxton Berrios. In their absence, rookies Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel, both from Iowa State, are expected to step into the lineup.

The Bucs, too, have their fair share of absentees. Chris Godwin and Tristan Wirfs will be missing, while Christian Izien and Benjamin Morrison, key pieces in the secondary, are on the injury report and did not suit up in Week 1. Izien played 31 of 34 games in the last two seasons, while Morrison is waiting to make his NFL debut.

The public is heavily backing the under, with 93% of bets and 90% of the handle on the under. The total has dropped by as many as three points since the books opened, moving from 45.5 to a consensus 42.5 total.

The ATS handle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is 51%, while the ATS handle for the Houston Texans is 49%. Interestingly, despite only getting 35% of the bets, the Bucs have received 60% of the moneyline handle.

In a surprising move, my colleague Chris Amberley is backing the Houston Texans to cover -2.5. The public, however, appears to be leaning towards the road 'dog to cover and win straight-up.

The stage is set for an exciting Monday Night Football matchup. Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the game.
