In a heartbreaking turn of events, renowned actor Robo Shankar passed away on the evening of September 18, 2025, at the age of 46, in Chennai. His death has sent shockwaves through the Tamil film industry and beyond, with many paying tribute to the late actor on social media.

Robo Shankar was admitted to GEM Hospital, Perungudi, Chennai, on September 16, 2025, in a critical condition due to a massive gastrointestinal bleed and multiorgan dysfunction secondary to a complex abdominal condition. Despite intensive medical management in the critical care unit, his health deteriorated, and he passed away at 9.05 pm on Thursday.

News of his passing sparked an outpouring of grief and condolences from fellow celebrities and fans alike. Dhanush, Sivakarthikeyan, and Udhayanidhi visited Shankar's house to pay their last respects. Kamal Haasan wrote an emotional tribute, expressing his sorrow and stating that his job remains unfinished. Vijay Sethupathi shared a picture of Shankar and wrote 'RIP'.

Raghava Lawrence, Karthi, and Radikaa Sarathkumar also expressed their condolences, remembering Robo Shankar for his talent and contributions to the industry. Simran is deeply saddened by the passing of Robo Shankar and offered prayers for his family.

Robert Redford, Meryl Streep, James Gunn, and Morgan Freeman, among others, paid tribute to the Oscar-winning legend in the international film industry.

Robo Shankar's body is being kept at his residence in Valasaravakkam, Chennai, for homage. The funeral took place in the late afternoon of September 18, 2025, in Chennai.
