Robo Shankar was admitted to GEM Hospital, Perungudi, Chennai, on September 16, 2025, in a critical condition due to a massive gastrointestinal bleed and multiorgan dysfunction secondary to a complex abdominal condition. Despite intensive medical management in the critical care unit, his health deteriorated, and he passed away at 9.05 pm on Thursday.
News of his passing sparked an outpouring of grief and condolences from fellow celebrities and fans alike. Dhanush, Sivakarthikeyan, and Udhayanidhi visited Shankar's house to pay their last respects.
