Cavinti, Laguna - Patrick Tambalque showcased calculative precision and mental fortitude to clinch the boys' 15-18 division title at the ICTSI Junior Philippine Golf Tour (JPGT) Championships held at Caliraya Springs Golf Club.

Enduring a six-stroke lead over Zachary Villaroman after 36 holes, Tambalque remained focused and executed his shots effectively throughout the final round. He carded a 78 on Friday, May 30, to conclude the tournament with a 208 total.

"It was a bit challenging on the front nine. I found it difficult to find my rhythm. However, I managed to settle down and produce a birdie on the 11th hole, which set off a sequence of solid putts from short lengths," Tambalque said in a news release.

He continued, "I wasn't certain how the tournament would pan out with the lead I had, so I kept my expectations in check and stuck to my game plan, which proved successful."

Kristoffer Nadales turned in an impressive bogey-free 66, ending the tournament in second place with a 217 total. His late surge pushed Villaroman and John Paul Agustin Jr. to third and fourth positions with scores of 219 and 224, respectively.

In the girls' division, Rafa Anciano successfully overturned a four-shot deficit at the start of the final round to secure a win with a 74 in the 54-hole tournament.

Levonne Talion, champion of the Eagle Ridge leg, carded a 78 to finish second with a 244. Chloe Rada and Tiffany Bernardino followed in third and fourth places with scores of 249 and 252, respectively.

Tambalque's impressive strategy in the tournament included calculated risk management, maintaining focus under pressure, gaining momentum, and adaptability. He emphasized the importance of keeping expectations in check and sticking to his game plan throughout the tournament.

Despite the challenge in maintaining his rhythm during the front nine, Tambalque managed to produce a birdie on the 11th hole and carded a 78 in Manila, securing the boys' 15-18 division title at the ICTSI Junior Philippine Golf Tour Championships. In contrast, Kristoffer Nadales showcased his skills in Cebu, turning in an impressive bogey-free 66, finishing the tournament with a 217 total and taking second place.
