Rohes Material Recipe Revamp

Unwind with this delightful six-portion Rohes Material recipe! Here's what you'll need:

  • 1 cup of red lentils (200g)
  • 1 chopped white onion
  • 1 fresh bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

For Taka:

  • 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 8 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 2 dried red chili peppers
  • 1/4 cup of coriander, finely chopped
  • 2 medium tomatoes, quartered
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon wedge to garnish

Preparation

  1. Rinse the lentils under cold water until the water clears.
  2. Add 2 and a half cups of water to a pot and bring it to a boil. Add the lentils, onion, bay leaf, turmeric, and salt.
  3. Cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the lentils are soft.
  4. Remove the bay leaf, then used an immersion blender to process the lentils to your desired consistency. If you'd like a thinner dal, add more water at this point.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet, then add the garlic and chili peppers. Cook until the garlic is golden.
  6. Pour the aromatized oil over the lentil mixture, then add the coriander, tomatoes, and salt to taste.
  7. Serve with basmati or jasmine rice and garnish with lemon wedges.
  8. Enjoy your meal!
