Rohes Material Recipe Revamp
Unwind with this delightful six-portion Rohes Material recipe! Here's what you'll need:
- 1 cup of red lentils (200g)
- 1 chopped white onion
- 1 fresh bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
For Taka:
- 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil
- 8 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
- 2 dried red chili peppers
- 1/4 cup of coriander, finely chopped
- 2 medium tomatoes, quartered
- Salt to taste
- Lemon wedge to garnish

Preparation
- Rinse the lentils under cold water until the water clears.
- Add 2 and a half cups of water to a pot and bring it to a boil. Add the lentils, onion, bay leaf, turmeric, and salt.
- Cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the lentils are soft.
- Remove the bay leaf, then used an immersion blender to process the lentils to your desired consistency. If you'd like a thinner dal, add more water at this point.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet, then add the garlic and chili peppers. Cook until the garlic is golden.
- Pour the aromatized oil over the lentil mixture, then add the coriander, tomatoes, and salt to taste.
- Serve with basmati or jasmine rice and garnish with lemon wedges.
