Tour of Britain Men's Line-up Shines Bright for 2023 Event

The 2023 Tour of Britain Men's race is shaping up to be one of the most exciting editions yet, with a stellar line-up of teams set to compete. According to the race's managing director, Jonathan Day, this year's roster is one of the best ever assembled for the race.

The 19-team field will feature nine UCI WorldTeams, including Bahrain Victorious, Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale, Groupama-FDJ, INEOS Grenadiers, Lidl-Trek, Soudal Quick-Step, Team Picnic PostNL, Team Visma | Lease a Bike, and UAE Team Emirates - XRG. Among these, UAE Team Emirates - XRG will be making their Tour of Britain debut in 2023. Lidl-Trek and Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale are returning after an absence of several years.

Notable participants include Geraint Thomas, who is due to compete in the Tour of Britain and is set to retire at the end of the race in his hometown of Cardiff. Tadej Pogacar, who has withdrawn from the Vuelta a Espana due to fatigue, will return to competition at the GPs de Québec and Montréal in Canada before the World Championships.

Other teams joining the race include Uno-X Mobility, Unibet Tietema-Rockets, Kern Pharma, Flanders-Baloise, and Tom Pidcock's Q36.5 Pro Cycling. Anicolour-Tien 21, who impressed with aggressive riding in last year's event, will return to the race next month. Groupama-FDJ will also debut at the Tour of Britain. Tudor Pro Cycling, the team of Julian Alaphilippe, will make their Tour of Britain debut. The Portuguese registered team, Anicolour-Tien 21, will be the only UCI Continental team included. Stevie Williams' team, Israel-Premier Tech, will return for the Tour of Britain Men.

Great Britain will field a six-rider strong team as usual. Regarding the most successful teams in the modern Tour of Britain, Soudal Quick-Step, Ineos Grenadiers, and Visma-Lease a Bike are the three most successful teams, with a combined total of 64 individual stage wins.

The Tour of Britain Men will start in Woodbridge, Suffolk on 2 September. With such a strong line-up of teams and riders, it promises to be a thrilling race that cycling fans won't want to miss. The race is set to be a fitting tribute to Geraint Thomas's illustrious career, as he competes in his final Tour of Britain.
