Tadej Pogačar Unveils Revolutionary Colnago TT1 Time Trial Bike for Tour de France

Tadej Pogačar, the Slovenian cycling sensation, has made a splash in the cycling world with his ultra-exotic Colnago TT1 time trial bike during the Tour de France. This bike, designed for maximum speed and minimal setback, often referred to as a "vomit comet," boasts a highly aerodynamic and innovative design optimized for time trial performance.

The bike's unique rear triangle design, featuring a "Defy" seat cluster, decouples the seatpost from the main frame structure, allowing engineered vertical flex for rider comfort without sacrificing power transfer and stiffness. This design also shields the rear wheel, improving airflow and aerodynamic efficiency.

The Colnago TT1's frame is shaped to channel and clean up air from the rider and frame efficiently. A low stack height and an extreme dropped seatstay design, which runs horizontally for almost half its length, further contribute to the bike's aerodynamic prowess.

Pogačar's cockpit features a lower-bar section developed by Colnago, and specially developed extensions made by ENVE. Shift buttons are integrated for easy shifting, and the bike is equipped with a bayonet blade fork. The saddle, a Fizik Aeris TT, is mounted on an aero profiled seat post.

The bike is fitted with top-level components, including a Campagnolo Super Record TT EPS groupset for time trial precision, and aerodynamic Bora Ultra wheels (80 mm front for small size frames, 60 mm for medium frames) to optimize rolling resistance and aerodynamic drag. The rear wheel is a carbon fibre disc wheel from ENVE.

The tyres fitted are Continental Grand Prix 5000 TT tyres, and the bottles are specially shaped and housed in 3D printed cages that closely match the profile of the downtube.

Despite enhanced comfort and aero optimization, the bike achieves approximately a 3.5% improvement in sprint stiffness compared to previous models, crucial for sharp accelerations in time trials or hilly sections. The bike shares the philosophy of aerodynamically integrated components like the CC.Y1 cockpit system for lowered drag.

In summary, the TT1’s uniqueness lies in its advanced rear frame architecture that improves both comfort and aero performance, combined with high-end, race-focused components optimized for Tadej Pogačar’s time trial needs. As Pogačar prepares for the upcoming time trial stages, the Colnago TT1 promises to be a formidable weapon in his quest for victory.
