SV Sandhausen undergoes a strategic shift as Janssen assumes leadership role - Tactical overhaul: Janssen assumes control at SV Sandhausen

Gearing up for a fresh start, relegated third division team SV Sandhausen turns to seasoned coach Olaf Janßen for some much-needed strategic change. With Janßen joining from Viktoria Köln, he'll be replacing Dennis Diekmeier and Gerhard Kleppinger, who failed to prevent the club from landing in the second-to-last spot in the table.

At 58 years old, Janßen, who had earlier announced his departure from Cologne, will be formally presented following the Baden state cup final on May 24, as the club announced. Alongside the new coach, details about the club's organizational structure and sporting direction will be shared at an appropriate time. The identity of the new sporting director remains uncertain.

"Perfect fit for the job"

According to SVS President Jürgen Machmeier, "Our analysis zeroed in on this exact coaching profile, and we believe Olaf Janßen is the perfect man for the job. We're confident that with Olaf Janßen at the helm, we'll return to our lost DNA." Known for his knack for developing young players and his long-term vision, Janßen also has a proven track record for handling structural rebuilds.

Beyond his stints at SV Sandhausen and Viktoria Köln, Janßen has coached a variety of clubs. Notable among them are Dynamo Dresden, VfB Stuttgart, and FC St. Pauli. His experience extends to working as an assistant coach under Bruno Labbadia at VfL Wolfsburg and Hertha BSC, both top-tier Bundesliga clubs.13
