Systems affiliated with patriotism will be transferred to Ukraine in the near future.

In response to Ukraine's urgent need to bolster its defenses against escalating Russian missile and drone attacks, NATO allies are working tirelessly to expedite the delivery of additional Patriot air defense systems.

## Current Status

The urgency of the situation is palpable, with Ukraine's air defense network currently under significant strain. This necessitates rapid reinforcement, a task that NATO allies, including Germany and Norway, are actively engaged in. Germany is considering supplying two U.S.-made Patriot systems, while Norway is offering to finance an additional system for Ukraine.

## Delivery Timeline

The process of delivery is being expedited, with U.S. President Donald Trump stating that shipments are already underway. However, exact timelines are not disclosed to avoid revealing sensitive information to adversaries. This swift action comes at a cost, as deliveries to other countries, such as Switzerland, have been delayed. Switzerland's deliveries, originally set for 2026-2028, are now uncertain due to this prioritization.

## Coordination and Meetings

NATO officials are set to meet soon to coordinate air defense support for Ukraine, focusing on reinforcing Kyiv's defenses. The meeting will be led by NATO military commander Alexus Grynkewich at the military NATO headquarters SHAPE near the Belgian city of Mons. The meeting's primary objective will be to find further Patriot batteries for Ukraine.

Ukraine has already received a total of eight Patriot air defense systems from its allies: three from Germany, three from the USA, one from the Netherlands, and one from Romania. With President Zelenskyy expressing a desire to purchase "at least ten" more Patriot systems, the need for these systems is evident.

The Patriot system, valued at around 350 million euros, is a mobile, powerful defense mechanism. Each system can track up to 50 targets and combat five objects simultaneously, with a range of approximately 68 kilometers. The Patriot system, built by Raytheon, is Ukraine's primary means of defense against ballistic and hypersonic missiles fired by Russia.

Preparations for a swift relocation of these systems are already underway. NATO is planning to deliver additional Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, a decision initiated by US President Donald Trump. The relocation of the systems could take months, according to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense in Berlin, but preparations are being made to ensure a swift and effective response to Ukraine's needs.

As the situation in Ukraine continues to evolve, the commitment of NATO allies to support Ukraine remains unwavering. The delivery of these critical air defense systems is a testament to this commitment and a vital step in bolstering Ukraine's defenses against the ongoing threat from Russia.

  1. In light of Ukraine's increased need for defense resources, discussions are underway to revise the Community policy regarding arms supply, with a focus on facilitating the delivery of more Patriot air defense systems.
  2. Amidst the ongoing conflict and war-and-conflicts, the economic and monetary union is considering implementation of measures to support the economic stability of affected countries, especially those like Ukraine that are under threat from escalating aggression and are reliant on foreign aid.
