Summer at Syracuse University: A Time for Growth and Community

Syracuse University is a bustling hub of activity during the summer months, offering a wide range of academic programs, special camps, and social gatherings for students, faculty, staff, and the wider community.

Syracuse University hosts a variety of activities and events during the summer, including pre-college summer college programs, gaming and e-sports summer camp, social events and community activities, and welcome week activities for new students. These activities provide academic enrichment, social engagement, and community involvement opportunities for a broad range of participants.

[1] Pre-College Summer College Programs: On-campus, online, and commuter options for rising high school sophomores, juniors, seniors, and recent graduates to take college-level courses, live in dorms, and participate in campus events. These programs typically last 3 to 6 weeks and offer both credit and non-credit options.

[2] Social Events and Community Activities: Various campus and local events, including social meet-ups, cooking demos, walking tours, and seasonal celebrations like the Camp Talooli 80th Celebration and giveaways in the Syracuse area.

[3] Gaming and E-Sports Summer Camp: A new camp focused on gaming, esports, and game design for middle and high school students. It includes team challenges, arts and crafts, and lessons on digital citizenship. The camp takes place at the Schine Student Center and is linked to the university’s state-of-the-art Gaming & Esports Center.

[4] Welcome Week Activities for New Students: While these primarily occur in late August, they include convocation, brunches, open houses, peer advising, ice cream socials, and campus fairs which may be of interest to newly arriving students during the summer transition period.
