New Senior Co-living Community to Launch in 2026 on Sylt - Sylt's New Senior Co-Living Community Combats Loneliness, Opens 2026

A new co-living community for seniors is set to open in Westerland, Sylt, in 2026. The project aims to combat loneliness among the elderly on the island and is located behind a dune, about 100 meters from the beach promenade.

The community, set to house eleven seniors, will offer living spaces of approximately 23 square meters each, complete with private bathrooms. The complex also includes senior apartments and a day care center, providing a comprehensive living solution.

Residents must be at least 60 years old, have lived on Sylt for at least two years, and not own any real estate to qualify for moving in. The association 'Living Together and Living' will manage the rentals, subletting the apartments to the residents.

The community features shared facilities such as a kitchen, living area, outdoor space, balcony, rooftop terrace, and a housekeeping room. The monthly warm rent for each living space is 500 euros, inclusive of all ancillary costs. Some future tenants require planning security due to retirement or notice periods.

The new co-living community in Westerland, Sylt, offers a unique living solution for seniors, promoting social interaction and combating loneliness. With its prime location and comprehensive facilities, it is set to provide a high quality of life for its residents from 2026.
