Switzerland's Weather Mix: Sunshine, Fog, Mild Temperatures, Rain Ahead
Switzerland experienced a week of varied weather, with clear skies and sunshine in the mountains, fog in the lowlands, and a mild temperature despite the season. The weather station in Davos recorded the highest sunshine duration in the region on Friday. Until Saturday, the mountains enjoyed mostly cloudless skies and good visibility. The Napf, however, had four consecutive days with little sunshine. Meanwhile, a thick fog layer affected the lowlands, particularly the city of Lucerne, for a week. The fog rose to around 2000 meters at times. In the night to Sunday, thin cirrus clouds moved in, causing local frost and fog formation. On Saturday, the high fog finally lifted, revealing sunny and cloudless skies in the north. Despite the change, temperatures remained mild for the season, with afternoon highs around 15°C. A strong low-pressure system over the Atlantic will bring rain on Monday, the first in the north since October 6. Rainfall amounts will remain modest at the beginning of the week, with larger amounts and stormy winds expected in the second half of the week. After a week of varied weather, including clear skies, fog, and mild temperatures, Switzerland is set for rain on Monday, with heavier rainfall and stormy winds expected later in the week.
