Switzerland's sunny week ends with rain, snow, and plunging temperatures
A spell of warm and sunny climate will dominate much of the week across Switzerland. Heat will peak on Tuesday, with afternoon highs reaching 16°C in many areas. However, a shift to wetter and cooler conditions is expected by the weekend.
The week begins with mild and pleasant conditions. Tuesday will bring the warmest day, with thermometers hitting 16°C under mostly cloudy skies in the south. Sunshine and fair-weather clouds will continue through Thursday and Friday, offering a brief break before the weather.
From Wednesday, a cold front will move in, bringing wetter conditions. The snow line will drop to between 1,300 and 1,500 meters, marking the start of a cooler trend. By Saturday, heavy rain showers will spread across the country, with temperatures falling noticeably.
Alpine regions will see snow from Saturday evening, as the snow line lowers to around 1,400–2,100 meters. Lower elevations may still experience rain or mixed precipitation, with snowfall limits hovering near 2,300–3,200 meters. The snow line will then drop further to around 1,000 meters over the weekend.
Monday will bring a slight improvement, though isolated showers are still possible in northwestern Switzerland and the Jura region. Temperatures will recover slightly, reaching up to 15°C in some areas.
The week will start warm and dry but end with a sharp change. Heavy rain, falling temperatures, and lower snow lines will dominate the weekend. Alpine areas should prepare for significant snowfall, while lower regions face wet and cooler conditions.
