Switzerland and Greece battle for United Cup quarterfinals glory in Perth

Switzerland and Greece will clash in the United Cup quarterfinals on Wednesday evening in Perth. The tie features high-profile matches, including Stan Wawrinka against Stefanos Tsitsipas and Belinda Bencic taking on Maria Sakkari. Both teams advanced as group winners after strong performances in the earlier rounds.

The Swiss team, led by Wawrinka, Bencic, and Jakub Paul, secured their spot by topping their group. Wawrinka and Tsitsipas have met only once before, with the Swiss veteran winning a gruelling five-set match at the 2019 French Open.

Greece reached the quarterfinals after victories over Japan and Great Britain, thanks in part to Sakkari and Tsitsipas. Bencic, ranked 11th in the WTA, will face Sakkari, who holds a 2–1 advantage in their previous encounters. The evening session in Perth will decide which nation progresses further in the tournament. Both teams bring experienced players with a history of deep runs in major competitions.

The winners of the Switzerland vs. Greece tie will advance to the next stage of the United Cup. Wawrinka and Tsitsipas will renew their rivalry, while Bencic aims to reverse her head-to-head record against Sakkari. The matches are set to draw significant attention as both nations push for a place in the semifinals.
