Swiss Alps offer Easter skiers fresh snow and spring sunshine
Switzerland's Easter weekend will bring a mix of spring sunshine and fresh Alpine snow. Skiers can expect excellent conditions in higher resorts, while lower areas face milder weather. The contrast between snowy peaks and warm valleys sets the scene for a varied holiday break. Over the past five years, Swiss ski resorts have seen unpredictable snow. The 2025/26 season started poorly, with dry spells until heavy February snowfalls arrived. Since then, mild and sunny weather has dominated, leaving higher elevations well-covered for Easter. The Jungfrau region currently reports 158–245 cm of snow, while Lenzerheide sits at 132 cm. Lower slopes, however, hold just 25–79 cm, with a moderate avalanche risk at level 2.
Forecasters predict clear skies from Good Friday through Easter Monday. Morning temperatures in the Alps will hover just above freezing, but daytime highs at 2,000 metres will only climb above zero by Easter itself. Meanwhile, the Swiss Midlands will enjoy spring warmth of 10–15°C, and Ticino could reach 14–18°C. The fresh snowfall and firm *griffig* or spring snow conditions will benefit skiers in higher resorts. But those heading to lower altitudes may find thinner cover and softer slopes as the weekend progresses.
Easter travellers can look forward to sunny days and good skiing above 1,500 metres. The Alps will stay cold enough to preserve snow quality, while valleys offer mild temperatures for outdoor activities. Resorts remain well-prepared, though lower areas may see patchier conditions as the season winds down.
