Swift initiation propels Cocalico to a shockingly one-sided victory over Elizabethtown in Section 2 girls soccer match
Cocalico Eagles Continue Unbeaten Run in Section Two
The Cocalico Eagles extended their winning streak to five games in Section Two of the Lancaster-Lebanon League, following a dominant 6-0 victory over the Elizabethtown Bears on Saturday.
The Bears, who were last defeated on September 9, 2022, against another team, faced a tough challenge against the unbeaten Eagles. Despite the result, Elizabethtown's coach anticipates a close game when the teams meet again.
The Eagles stormed into an early lead, scoring four times within the first 21 minutes of the match. Chloe Martin opened the scoring just 38 seconds into the game, before Brielle Martin, Kira Lehman, and Savannah Draper added to the tally. The Eagles continued their dominance in the first half, scoring another goal to take a commanding 5-0 lead into the break.
Layla, who played outside back for the Eagles, stepped up easily to fill the void left by her absence last year on the JV team. Ariana, who made an easy transition to the Cocalico team as an outside back, also impressed with her performance.
Corrina's hard work at practice was noted by the coach, with the player always asking questions and working very hard during sessions. Molly Barrett, in goal, collected her ninth shutout of the season, demonstrating her exceptional form between the posts.
Despite the heavy defeat, Hogan, Elizabethtown's coach, acknowledged that the result isn't reflective of the Bears' abilities. He believes that Cocalico will give them a tough game in their next match. E-town dropped to 4-1 in the section following the loss.
The Cocalico Eagles remain unbeaten at 5-0 in Section Two of the Lancaster-Lebanon League, and will look to continue their impressive form in their next match.
