Swift fans inundate AMC app, leading to over an hour delays in acquiring 'Showgirl' tickets and deteriorating ticket availability for other films.
AMC Theatres, a leading cinema chain, has been experiencing a surge in online ticket sales for the highly anticipated event, "Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl." The special event, a large-scale version of Swift's famed "secret sessions" album events, is set to celebrate the release of her new album, "The Life of a Showgirl," on October 3.
The event, which is an 89-minute experience, will not only be available at all 540 AMC Theatres locations but will also expand to thousands of non-AMC theaters across North America, including Cinemark and Regal locations. Screenings will kick off simultaneously across time zones at 3 p.m. ET / noon PT on Oct. 3.
The event's ticket sales and A-list reservations for movies that are now playing can be made at an AMC Theatre near you or by checking back later. A constant 2-minute estimated wait time was displayed on the AMC app to manage the high traffic volume. A spokesperson for AMC stated that the power of the Swifties remains unmatched.
On the AMC app, a message read, "Thank you for your patience as we experience high traffic volume." Another message added, "When it is your turn, you will have 10 minutes to begin your 'Taylor Swift | The Official Release Party of a Showgirl' ticket purchase or other online visit."
The event will feature the premiere of the first music video from Swift's 12th studio album, for the song "The Fate of Ophelia." This marks Taylor Swift's return to the big screen, scheduled from Oct. 3-5.
In addition to the USA, the event will be available in several international territories, including Canada, Mexico, the U.K., France, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, starting from Oct. 3-5. Other countries not included on the list will get the film on a later weekend in October, to be announced on or around Oct. 3.
AMC guests are welcome to sing and dance during "Taylor Swift | The Official Release Party of a Showgirl," but cannot stand on seats or block any aisles or stairs. The event, titled "Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl," continues Swift's partnership with AMC Theatres Distribution for her theatrical releases.
Tickets for showtimes in these countries will go on sale this coming Tuesday. The return of Taylor Swift to the big screen promises an unforgettable experience for her fans worldwide.
