A new Swedish-owned taco spot has opened in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Smakrik, run by chef Tobias Olsson, serves up creative tacos from its first-floor location in Wisma Cosway. The restaurant operates weekdays, offering a quick lunch for office workers and food lovers.
Tobias Olsson brings years of experience to Smakrik. His career began as an apprentice in Sweden before rising to head chef roles at top restaurants like Operakällaren and Mathias Dahlgren in Stockholm. Later, he worked in London and Asia, refining his skills across different cuisines. In 2023, he launched Smakrik in Kuala Lumpur, blending Swedish precision with global flavours.
The menu focuses on three taco options, each priced at RM9. Beef tacos feature a rich beef and bean ragu, similar to chili con carne. Chicken tacos come with a smoky chipotle rub, topped with pineapple and corn salsa. For seafood lovers, the fish taco includes a crispy battered white fish on a bed of tangy pickled cabbage. Beyond individual tacos, Smakrik offers meal deals. Customers can choose one taco with fries or Mexican tomato rice for RM17. A two-taco set costs RM25, providing a filling option for lunch. The restaurant is open Monday to Friday, from 11am to 3.30pm, catering to the midday crowd. Wisma Cosway itself is a food hub, with multiple operators spread across its floors.
