Sweden and Czechia pick North Texas for 2026 World Cup training camps

North Texas will host two national teams as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Sweden and Czechia have chosen the region for their training camps, with bases in Frisco and Mansfield. Fans can expect open practices and cultural celebrations before the tournament kicks off. Sweden secured their World Cup spot by defeating Poland 3-2 in a tense qualifier. Their first match will be against Tunisia in Guadalupe, Mexico, on June 14. Before that, they face Japan in Arlington on June 25 as part of their warm-up schedule.

Czechia also earned their place after a dramatic 3-1 penalty shootout win over Denmark. Their opening game is against South Korea in Zapopan, Mexico, on June 11.

Toyota Stadium in Frisco will serve as Sweden's base, with practices likely starting around June 5. FC Dallas president Dan Hunt confirmed the team's arrival date. Meanwhile, Czechia will train at Mansfield Stadium, though construction there is still underway and expected to finish by May.

Local officials in Frisco and Mansfield plan to honour the visiting teams with cultural events. The mayors aim to blend Swedish and Czech traditions into public celebrations. While exact details of fan events remain unconfirmed, open training sessions are expected. The presence of Sweden and Czechia brings international football to North Texas. Fans will have the chance to watch practices and engage with team events before the World Cup begins. Both cities are preparing to welcome players and supporters with cultural festivities in the coming months.
