Swb Continues as Primary Sponsor for Fishtown Penguins' Ventures

In a move that strengthens the bond between energy and telecommunications provider SWB and the Fischtown Pinguins ice hockey team, the two entities have agreed to continue and potentially expand their collaboration for the next three years. This could lead to a remarkable 30-year milestone by 2027.

The partnership, which began in 1997, has been a cornerstone for both parties. SWB's board member, Gunnar Geise, expressed his delight, stating that the company's sponsorship demonstrates SWB's commitment to the city of Bremerhaven. Hauke Hasselbring, the Pinguins' managing director, underscored the financial importance of SWB's support, particularly in light of the team's participation in the Champions Hockey League (CHL).

The CHL, the European ice hockey elite league, will see the Pinguins in action starting next September. The team's opening game will take place on September 6th at 7:30 PM in the Eisarena Bremerhaven. In an exciting twist, the Pinguins will face last year's winner, Genève-Servette from Switzerland, in their inaugural match.

The extended partnership also includes support for the team's participation in the CHL. However, specific future plans or new initiatives have not been publicly detailed.

The partnership has weathered challenging times, such as the Corona pandemic, and has remained a beacon of resilience and unity. As a result of the Pinguins' participation in the CHL, the popular swb Energy Cup in Bremerhaven will be paused this year.

The image above shows a gathering of key figures from both SWB and the Fischtown Pinguins, including SWB's Managing Director, Axel Siemsen, and the Pinguins' Head Coach, Alexander Sulzer. The sporting success of the Penguins has been a significant factor in the longevity of the partnership, according to Siemsen.

Geise also highlighted that the decision to extend the sponsorship was not difficult, as it allows for the partnership to contribute to bringing people from the region together through sport. The Pinguins' Sports Manager, Sebastian Furchner, shared similar sentiments, expressing his gratitude for SWB's continued support.

As the Pinguins gear up for the CHL, the city of Bremerhaven and SWB look forward to another chapter in their long-term partnership, filled with sporting success, community engagement, and mutual growth.

The partnership between SWB and the Fischtown Pinguins, originally initiated in 1997, includes their shared commitment to the sport of hockey, specifically the Champions Hockey League (CHL). SWB's ongoing support for the team in the CHL is crucial, as it allows the Pinguins to compete in Europe's elite ice hockey league.
