In the recent Beach Volleyball European Championships held in Düsseldorf, the German duo of Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickler, who clinched the silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, failed to secure a medal this time around.

As the last remaining German men's team in the competition, Ehlers and Wickler had high hopes for another medal at the European Championships. However, their journey came to an end in the quarter-finals, where they were defeated by the Swedish pair David Ahman and Jonatan Hellvig. The quarter-final match, a rematch of the Paris Olympic final, ended with a score of 21:19, 21:16 in favour of Ahman and Hellvig.

The defeat meant that Ehlers and Wickler, who were runners-up at last year's European Championships, would not be taking home a medal this year. Despite the disappointing result, the pair was overall satisfied with their performance.

Meanwhile, the defending champions Svenja Müller and Cinja Tillmann, also based in Hamburg, managed to secure the bronze medal. They defeated Daniela Álvarez Mendoza and Tania Moreno from Spain in the bronze medal match. However, detailed results and final standings for Müller and Tillmann were not found in the provided sources.

The final of the European Championships was a thrilling contest between Clémence Vieira and Aline Chamereau and Maryna Hladun and Tetiana Lazarenko. In a closely fought match, Hladun and Lazarenko emerged victorious, taking home the gold medal. Vieira and Chamereau also competed in the final, securing the silver medal.

Despite Ehlers and Wickler's early exit, their participation in the European Championships is a testament to their continued dedication and love for the sport. As they prepare for the World Championships in November in Adelaide, Australia, they will undoubtedly be looking to bounce back and regain their form.

While returning from the European Championships without a medal, Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickler, Germany's silver medalists from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, remain dedicated to their sport, with the World Championships in Adelaide, Australia, set for their next challenge.
