Suspension and Reinstatement of Claude Gauthier's Release

Claude Gauthier, a member of the Hells Angels Trois-Rivières chapter, who was released from prison early in April 2023, has had his conditional release reinstated following an incident in a Quebec transition house.

According to reports, Gauthier was found involved in a physical altercation with another individual in his unit. The details of the motives behind the altercation are not fully verified, but it is believed that a dispute over the cleaning of the bathroom may have been the cause. During the assault, Gauthier was stabbed multiple times in the upper body and neck with scissors.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CPB) disagreed with the parole officer's recommendation to revoke Gauthier's conditional release. The CPB cited Gauthier's progress since his release, agreement to participate in a community program, and lack of convincing evidence of violation or return to criminality as reasons for lifting the suspension.

The assault occurred at approximately 14:44 and was captured on camera. Another resident of the transition house notified a supervisor about the noise coming from Gauthier's unit during the incident. Gauthier was taken to a hospital after the assault and refused to participate in an interview about the event.

It is worth noting that Gauthier was serving a nine-year sentence for drug trafficking, gangsterism, and receiving stolen goods. His conditional release was initially suspended following the assault he suffered in the transition house on April 18, 2023.

Gauthier's lawyer has stated that he initially refused to have his medical file sent to correctional services but later changed his mind. For inquiries, contact Daniel Renaud at Dial 514 285-7000, extension 4918, email drenaud@our site, or write to the postal address of La Presse.

Despite the reinstatement of his conditional release, Gauthier must continue to respect severe conditions. It is essential to remember that everyone has the right to rehabilitation and a second chance, but public safety remains a top priority.

As this is an ongoing matter, it is recommended to consult official Canadian legal documents, news reports from credible media outlets covering Quebec, or statements from the Canadian Parole Board for the most accurate and up-to-date information.

  1. The reinstatement of Claude Gauthier's conditional release, despite an altercation in a transition house, raises questions about the balance between rehabilitation and public safety in general-news and political discourse.
  2. The stabbing incident involving Claude Gauthier, a Hells Angels member, in a transition house, while concerning in terms of crime-and-justice matters, highlights the importance of continued monitoring and adherence to conditions for individuals on conditional release.
