Chandan Mishra, a criminal from Buxar with multiple murder cases against him, was undergoing medical parole at the time of the attack. The assailants, armed and wearing caps, stormed into the hospital and shot him in Ward 209.
The police believe the attack was orchestrated by Onkarnath, alias Sheru Singh, who is currently serving a life sentence at Purulia jail in West Bengal. Sheru Singh allegedly ordered the hit due to suspicions that Chandan Mishra was informing the police about his gang members. As of the latest updates, the shooters involved in the murder are still at large. The police have identified all five shooters but have not been able to trace their location yet. There have been no reported arrests of the shooters or the masterminds behind the murder.
The police are investigating possible lapses in hospital security as no guards were present near the ward during the attack.
