A 17-year-old Portuguese man, known for his fascination with violence, was detained by the Judicial Police in May 2024. He stood accused of masterminding several school massacres in Brazil, using a Discord group to recruit like-minded individuals.
Now, the Public Ministry has indicted him for a slew of crimes, including instigation of homicide, animal cruelty, and child pornography. The investigation, apparently concluded, revealed that the suspect created a violent and extremist online group, where members were urged to commit heinous crimes.
The young man has been held in preventive detention for a year, accused of instigating qualified homicide, attempted homicide, and animal cruelty. He was also implicated as the material author of public incitement, public apology for a crime, criminal association, child pornography, coercion, discrimination and incitement to hatred and violence, and assistance to suicide.
One of his crimes involved inciting a 15-year-old boy to invade a school in Sapopemba, São Paulo, and shoot a 17-year-old girl, resulting in three other injuries. In a disturbing twist, the suspect's extremist behaviors included serious self-mutilation, mutilation and death of animals, dissemination of Nazi extremist propaganda, incitement and practice of school massacres, and sharing child pornography.
These activities were shared with the group, including live transmissions of animal mutilation and death, and young people drinking detergent and self-mutilating with sharp objects. The detention is said to have prevented an upcoming assault on a homeless person, intended for online broadcast.
